School is not education
School can be a way to obtain education, but school is not education . Education is basically a process of giving out knowledge and receiving knowledge. Its a systemic process of learning something with the goal of being a master at it.
School on the other hand is any institution at which instruction is given in a particular discipline, However , it is often times mistaken that school is education, believing that once you pass through the four walls of a classroom or lecture hall it is believed that one is educated with or without being a master in the field. It is now customary for people to spend a fortune to attend school but yet many come out uneducated. It is little wonder we have a lot of educated illiterates ,with uncivil character and thoughts pattern that are un customary to an educated person.
Education is associated with a wide range of positive outcome; inclusively health, wellbeing, high social trust, enlightenment, ability to think uniquely , share and learn etc. However the aims of schooling has grossly diminished, it has degenerated from learning and mastering a field , to more of a social hub where students connect and essential just catch cruise. The idea of school has been so negatively influenced it has become a market that sells certificates to candidates/students who are still inadequate or yet to be educated. Consequently, education can be acquired in school but it should be noted that school is not the only means of mastery over a field or receiving education . Ergo the idea that only a person who went to school , sometimes top schools , are considered educated regardless of there poor mastery in there field , this pattern of thinking should be abolished, as one might not go to school and still be very much educated and be a master in there field of choice .
Education can be acquired online, it could be learning a skill, it could be due to constant practice on a particular field, it could be beating your self to your craft and it can literally be acquired anywhere.
Ergo, the outcome of education should be mastery and circulation of knowledge, which should also be the fundamental of going to school . Just like the inevitable but unequivocal evolution of man and its environs schooling has devolved into a market place , selling certificates, traded not for learning but ability to buy , whoever has the most money is believed to acquire the most education as they can afford the best institution. But if this is factual then the question is ‘why then do we have geniuses that never went to school ?or why are they kids from extremely poor backgrounds and school , yet excelling exceedingly in there fields and seemingly more educated?’ As sure as I am that eggs are eggs , I believe education expecially in schools should not only be redefined but also reevaluated . Scheme and thought process and a general balance of all course while mastery of certain fields, should be the Holy grail and design of getting an education in school .
We must tap into humanity zeal to acquire knowledge, we have to let go of our system of today , channeled at creating schools as franchise for commercial gains alone ,neglecting education, as a consequence it can be seen that , an auxiliary nurse who was educated from a well equipped and functional hospital is more verse in there field in comparison to graduates in nursing from 7 years, But the 7years graduate will habitually brag to be an expert because he or she went through school and is holding a certificate.
Due to societal and peer pressure a person talented or with the desire to do music or aims to be a musician, enrolls in school spends a fortune in school ,6years in primary school 3years in middle school 3years in high school then 4-5 years in college in an entirely different field and sometimes finishes school to continue there desired profession in this case music , a lot of time that could have been suited in harnessing his/her music skills .
Education can be acquired in school but school in itself is not education, the difference couldn’t be more obvious.
